When I first started writing about this (well before I was blogging), there seemed to be little around.

Hope you got your run in before/after the storm. I found it when I googled "running in thunderstorms", since it looks like there's a big line of storms going through my area tomorrow and I was hoping to get a run in.

In the past, at the first "boom" of thunder, I head for my car but I was hoping I'd find a bunch articles that said "runners are unlikely to get hit" as long as there's houses and trees etc.

Thanks for saving me from my own stupidity.Brianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02814804554194390618noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5337555368793819627.post-15220986114550122272010-09-21T18:01:59.356-04:002010-09-21T18:01:59.356-04:00http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/conditional_risk.pnghttp://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/conditional_risk.pngHank Robertshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07521410755553979665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5337555368793819627.post-13473045484324851342010-07-20T13:44:22.401-04:002010-07-20T13:44:22.401-04:00I was just debating this very thing today. Hopefully I can run fast enough to get 2 miles in between storms :)BellaLiberahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07004243401258446902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5337555368793819627.post-16969747934894166672009-12-13T04:39:43.739-05:002009-12-13T04:39:43.739-05:00About how far away from a tall object do you need ...About how far away from a tall object do you need to be to be safe? Also, on the NWS site, it says 100% of 2008's fatalities were outside. Does that mean that being in water or near metal in a home in safe? What about near electronics such as using the phone? Are these all myths? (Yes I realize there is a difference between being "Safe" and simply not being a fatality, hence why I ask for clarification). I'm interested more in the details and science of lightning strike risk rather than the statistics here.Kathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12542426899890871618noreply@blogger.com
